THE FUTURE OF PUBLISHING - Is Peer-Review Out of Fashion?
The landscape of biomedical publishing is changing dramatically: DEAL, Coalition S, open access, bioRxiv and predatory journals are all affecting how we publish and how we make funding decisions. Yet, the scientific community needs to maintain high quality. As publications can be seen as our currency, how can we organize and preserve scientific knowledge in the digital future?
We would like to invite you to a discussion of these issues.
When: February 12th 2019 at 5pm
Where: GSLS building (Beatrice-Edgell-Weg 21, Campus Hubland North, 97074 Würzburg)
Prof. Jörg Vogel will kick-off the event with a short overview of the current changes in the publishing landscape.
After this, it is your turn to discuss the future of publishing with our expert panel including Amy Beisel (Wiley), Max Voegler (Elsevier), Prof. Werner Müller-Esterl (former president of Goethe-University Frankfurt), Bernd Pulverer (EMBOpress), Prof. Konrad Förstner (Technical University of Cologne) and Apoorva Baluapuri (students' representative). The discussion will be hosted by Stan Gorski (IMIB).
The event will be closed by a get-together in the foyer.
We look forward to welcoming you to this exciting event!
