    Dr. Kristina Popova

Kristina obtained her PhD from Ludwig Maximillian University in Munich where she studied the mechanism of protein folding inside the bacterial chaperonin GroEL/ES. Upon her graduation, she moved to London to join an early stage technology startup Scicasts (now called Mindzilla). There she received her journalism training and took on a challenge of building her own online column for the audience of science professionals. After her journalism work helped the startup gain recognition for their science media platform, she switched her focus to designing the market placement strategy for the startup’s AI product Nebuli.

In 2018, Kristina moved back to Germany to take up a postdoc position at the University of Würzburg where she has been investigating the mechanism of novel, RNA antisense-based antimicrobials. In parallel, she developed and has been teaching science journalism workshops for PhD students and researchers. Kristina has recently left her researcher position to fully dedicate her time to developing specialised science communications programs for research professionals and is now offering a range of workshops as well as setting up an online training and career support platform for academic graduates.
