Debating Skills

Programme offered by the Graduate School
in cooperation with the Debating Club Würzburg

Since the summer semester of 2008, the Graduate School for Key Qualifications has also been offering the opportunity to take part in debating lessons organised by the Debattierclub Würzburg/Colloquia Herbipolensia e.V..

Debating and argumentation skills are particularly required and expected both in the viva voce and even more intensively in the habilitation - and of course in professional life in general. In the sessions of the debating club, you will be given the tools to argue clearly, objectively and credibly, and to use these skills to participate in and lead public debates.

Participants can gain rhetorical confidence in regular public debates. At the same time, it is important to consolidate personal knowledge and viewpoints through the resulting polarisation.

Debates are held on Tuesdays (English) and Thursdays (German) in seminar room 320 at the New University, Sanderring 2.

Please register directly with the debating club . Regular participation during a whole semester is confirmed by the Debating Club and corresponds to 2 SWS in the curriculum of the "Humanities" programme of the Graduate School.

Further information can be found on the Debating Club's home page on Instagram.
