Abstract:
Eagle, owl, swallow, sparrow, nightingale and lark: birds play a special role in nature because their song and flight embellish the animal world. Birds also play an important role in poetry: as a motif, as a source of inspiration and as poetological figures of reflection.
The dissertation entitled "Poetic Ornithology" aims to reinterpret bird poems in German literary history from the perspectives of poetology, ornithology and ecology. In particular, it focuses on three relationships: poetology and ecology, culture and nature, and man and bird.
