Convince with a Doctorate in the Humanities

Training for self-confident communication when starting your career (in German)

Please note: This workshop is VERY IMPORTANT for you from around the middle of your doctoral period at the latest (3rd-4th semester of your doctorate) in order to acquire skills for your internal or external career orientation in good time.

Aim:

In the workshop you will learn about recruitment from a new perspective and develop tools for a self-confident and opportunity-orientated strategy for presenting and communicating your doctorate in the humanities.

By taking a detailed look at your strengths, your motivation and your enthusiasm, you will gain confidence for your presentation to potential employers and be able to approach job interviews more confidently.

Contents:

  • Basic models in recruiting: What are potential employers particularly interested in when they want to hire doctoral candidates?
  • The three recruiting areas of science, professional experience and personality
  • How can I communicate my motivation and enthusiasm for my humanities subject and my doctorate?
  • What competences have I acquired during my doctorate?
  • Translation of professional experience-related strengths in the doctoral thesis for the employer
  • What is my unique selling point with a doctorate?
  • Development of tools for the confident communication of doctoral experience

Seminar leader: Wolfgang Leybold (has over 20 years of professional experience in human resources consulting).

Crediting to the curriculum: This event corresponds to 0.5 SWS in the curriculum of the doctoral programme "Humanities " of the Graduate School.

Costs: The event, including all workshop materials, is free of charge for you; only catering during the workshop is not included.

The number of participants is initially limited to 12.
