Abstract:
The dissertation project deals with the diverse ghost and spectre phenomena in Andreas Gryphius' dramas in the context of the ghost discourse within the 17th century as well as the poetic models of Gryphius' ghost phenomena. The project is based on the assumption that the author Andreas Gryphius reinterpreted the scientific-theological belief in ghosts, which was already fading in the middle of the 17th century, and aims to trace this poetic reinterpretation within the drama corpus by means of a source-orientated approach based on the history of knowledge.
