Pre-publication of parts of the Dissertation during the Doctorate

§26 of the current GSH/UWGS Doctoral Regulations determines the publication of a dissertation; however, it does not formulate how to proceed with possible pre-publications of parts of a dissertation, e.g. in specialist journals, conference proceedings or similar:

At its meeting on 27 January 2022, the GSH Extended Executive Board therefore decided that publications of partial results during the doctorate should be supported in principle. For the guidance of supervisors and doctoral candidates, the Board has determined that parts of the dissertation can be published in consultation with the Doctoral Committee.

It should be noted that supervisors and doctoral candidates must also take publishing law aspects into account if, for example, previously published parts and the dissertation are to appear in different publishing houses.
