Example for the organisation of a study semester

Plan/average according to the Study Regulations: 2-3 SWS

Compulsory part:

A doctoral colloquium, which you attend anyway as a doctoral candidate, if offered: usually 2 SWS

or

an advanced/major seminar on a sub-area of your dissertation topic: usually 2 SWS

Compulsory elective part:

a qualification seminar "Writing Workshop for Doctoral Candidates".
Block seminar over 2 days (approx. 16 hours) = with an average of 14 semester weeks: 1 SWS

or

a qualification seminar "Presentation Techniques",
Block seminar over 1.5 days (approx. 12 hours) = for 14 semester weeks: 1 SWS

Total: 3 SWS.

Also of interest: Lecture series, GSH methods workshop or similar.
