PROVED programme of GSH
PRomovierende Organisieren Vorträge Externer Dozenten
(Doctoral Candidates Orgnise Lectures by External Lecturers)
Funds to finance a self-organised lecture or seminar event by GSH doctoral students
Since 2017, this programme has been advertised annually in January with a submission deadline at the end of February/beginning of March. Please note the current call for applications under "News".
Objective:
The Graduate School supports its doctoral candidates and members as part of its structured "Doctorate with Added Value" programme through a wide range of specially offered and focused support measures. Within this framework, the GSH would like to give its doctoral candidates more opportunities to gain initial and independent experience.
- in co-operation with each other,
- the acquisition of third-party funding and
- organising their own lectures or seminars.
In January and February, the GSH therefore regularly calls for applications for funding to support a lecture or seminar event organised by current doctoral candidates at the GSH. The funds raised will be used to invite external lecturers to organise such an event.
Basic principles:
- Current doctoral candidates of the Graduate School are eligible to apply;
- at least two doctoral candidates must always submit a joint application, whereby applications from teams from different subject areas are preferred; as the doctoral candidates at GSH are doing their doctorate as part of the interdisciplinary doctoral programme "Humanities", the subject affiliation of the first supervisor is relevant here;
- Two different event formats are possible:
1. a lecture or seminar event with a lecturer,
2. a lecture event with one lecturer plus a seminar/workshop on the following day - NB: International lecturers from Germany or abroad can of course also be invited.
- The maximum limit for the lecture fee/expense allowance or travel and hotel costs has been €300 since 2025;
- the event applied for must generally be planned for a date during the following summer semester.
Details & further information:
- The application process is kept very simple, an informal application is possible with
- a maximum of two pages A 4 including an overview of costs and time planning (font size at least 10pt, 1.5 lines);
- a comprehensible explanation as to why the lecturer in question should be invited;
- a simple cost, planning and implementation plan with details of the lecture fee, travel and hotel costs, organisational planning (announcements, posters, room planning etc.);
- the GSH Extended Board decides on the funding of the applications received;
- the GSH expects the sponsored team to submit a short progress report (max. 1 page A4) as well as a complete cost breakdown and statement of costs no later than four weeks after the event;
- The current call for applications can be found on the GSH website under "News".
