Abstract:
The dissertation project is based on the fieldwork executed in 2018 and aim to focus on the contemporary Avant-garde music scene in Europe from the perspective of the polyphonic overtone singing. In terms of the claim that the artwork has already lost its ''Aura'' and considering the influence of the constant changes of today's social and cultural dynamics on the contemporary artwork, I question whether it is possible to understand some directions of contemporary art as a renewed manifestation of art? If so, what is the effect of political dynamics on it? The polyphonic overtone singing performances are the practices of Avant-garde musicians mostly encountered during improvisation sessions. Although the Avant-garde music artists insist on keeping themselves away from political discourse, can they really avoid it? The musicians are being considered as creators of new forms and new methods of musical creativity, which we can understand as a process of the globalization from below rather than the concept of globalization. In accordance with these questions, the aim of this paper is to study the existence of alternate appearances of the musical hybridities by being aware of contemporary social and political tensions in society and the presence of crises of today's social dynamics. Also, the tendency to return to the foundations of nature has been influential in the theoretical framework. In all these aspects, it is worthwhile to evaluate these structures from an interdisciplinary approach as observable under various conditions all around the world, and, to emphasize the increasing effects of current socio-political dynamics on them.
